When I saw that my costumer, Susie, from SiQ Clothing was working on a Miranda Lawson costume, I flipped my shit. I walked in for a fitting and saw a mannequin dressed in her trademark suit and tried not to fan girl out… yeah, I fan girl over costumes… especially game-based ones.
Susie hired me to take her sister, Sarah Diane’s, photos- mainly because I was pushy about it, but I don’t care. This costume was perfection. Susie is a real magician when it comes to cosplay. Her attention to detail is amazing while she doesn’t hesitate to add her own flair to her work either.
So we set out on a photo shoot. Might I mention it’s Las Vegas in August… it was only a brisk 110 degrees out- a DAY before a huge storm rolled through. Brilliant. But Sarah was a real trooper- didn’t complain once. She’s the kind of model I pray to get for shoots like this. Cosplay is a different beast. Making a fictional character real requires patience, understanding and a tolerance for fabrics that want to kill you.
While Susie makes this costume pleasantly breathable- it’s still leather in parts. Throw in a wig and my husband’s seven pound M-77 Paladin replica and I’m sure it’s a pain in the padded ass. So again, hats off to Sarah. She nailed it.
They had so much fun, the asked me to photograph Susie’s Catwoman costume… which I’ll post about later.
